Tackle It Tuesday ~ Coupon Organization

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

About 6 months ago I was looking to give up my coupon binder as I was sick of it and needed a Coupon Change. Don't get me wrong, I loved my binder - especially when I had to take my coupons to the store everyday. But I had decided at the beginning of the year I was going to stop taking all my coupons to the store to simplify my life.

So I found these cute boxes and got a bright idea that I wanted to use them for my coupons. I labeled one of them: Food, Non-Food and Special Coupons (which were rebates, restaurant coupons, store coupons etc.) I also thought they would easily stack up on the side of my desk, out of the way and ready for when I needed them.

Well, after about -uhhhh - a day I hated them! They were a major pain. The dividers I had made didn't work well and it was hard to find the categories. The opening and closing of the boxes got on my nerves REALLY quick. To this day I have no idea why I thought this would be a good idea.

A couple weeks ago I had another bright idea to fix this coupon problem. I bought a basket, made more dividers out of index cards and - well here it is:

I gave my new coupon organizer a few weeks to make sure I liked this one (for the time being anyways). As of so far - I love it! The little basket fits nicely on the side of my desk, out of the way for quick and easy access. The coupon category titles are big and easy to read and find. One of the things I like the most is the looseness of the categories which makes it easy to just leaf though instead of take all the coupons out.

Another thing I did was paperclip my multiple coupons together so I could keep track of them better. So far this has worked great.

I even made a separate category just for my ECB's. I never really had a place for these before and most times they expire within a few weeks. This gave me a place to keep them so I could keep a better eye on them.

How do you organize your coupons? What are some ways you have organized your coupons in the past?

What a great tackle! I am in awe of coupon clippers. I wish I had the patience!

If at first you don't succeed....try something else! It's funny how something that seemed brilliant at one point in reality doesn't work. But then another simple idea is exactly what you need! I don't do coupons because we don't get them in our local paper. :(

I have coupon organization issues. I hate my coupons, but I love using them. I haven't found a single way to organize that suits me.

I have a fabric cancelled check organizer I bought at Walmart a few years ago. It zips shut, which is a must for me since I don't trust my 3yo to not dump them out. I can get about 3 inches worth of coupons in there and that is plenty for me. I live in the boonies, else I'd use more. Getting to a town with decent stores is a haul for me, so I don't get to shop as much as I'd like and nab all the good deals that others are able to do.

That is very impressive. Great job!

You'll have to keep us up to date on how that goes for you. My coupons are in a huge binder, which I'm beginning to hate too.

I have mine in an organizer, but I don't like it. I think I might get a larger index card box and do it similar to something like yours. :D

I have mine in a file box, but my problem is I tend to run out the door and forget them!

I use almost the same thing except mine is a piece of tupperware. I really like mine and it fits in the shopping cart too.

This one looks like a keeper. I also like how loose the dividers are so the coupons aren't squished in there and hard to view. Thanks for sharing.
